“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
-Leonardo da Vinci
“It is preoccupation with possession, more than anything else, that prevents men from living freely and nobly.”
“Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say let your affairs be as one, two, three and to a hundred or a thousand. We are happy in proportion to the things we can do without.”
-Henry David Thoreau
I think a lot about the idea of simplicity in all facets of life. Why do many of us have such a longing for it? I realize simplicity is very much a first world problem. Is it that the world is full of so much distraction? I was very taken with Marie Kondos’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up when it came out. Her basic idea was that your stuff shouldn’t make you long for more stuff, your stuff should remind you that you have everything you need. Looking forward to reading her new book.
