handwriting aside a very useful tool
Do you ever find yourself reading a book/article and realize you don’t know half the words? This happens to me constantly, especially with older books. A nice trick I picked up from Ryan Holiday is to use notecards, although his system is more advanced. When I come across a word I’m not familiar with I’ll look it up and continue on. If it’s a particularly tough book I’ll just write down the word and come back. This process makes challenging books easier to digest and you get the added bonus of expanding your vocabulary.
